Hi Folks,

The choice is huge I have read all the reviews and been to the local shop. I would like to know what you guys think. I am on a budget and don't want to spend more than £500.

My thanks in advance.

Tamron 90mm or Sigma 105mm f/2.8 are both excelent for the money and should be had for less than your budget.

If you dont mind s/h there are loads of excellent macro lens available to you even the Nikon AFS 105mm f2.8 VR can be had:)

Nikon 105mm VR or Sigma 150mm Macro both cracking lens for your budget - but dont forget you'll need some diffused flash

2nd the Sigma 150mm f2.8

Have a look on OSD 150mm £456 if you dont mind it being an import & if you want a new one...

3rd for the 150 Sigma f/2.8. Cracking macro lens :) couple it with the Sigma 2x tele for 2:1 (Haven't tried it myself just yet)

I've got b oth the Nikon 105 macro and the sigma 105 macro and in real terms not that far from you if you wanted to meet and try them out

pm me if you do

Very kind offer thankyou, of the two which do you prefer?

Thanks for all the advice and comments much appreciated.

definately the nikon, far quicker on focus and muh easier to use

60mm AF-D Micro-Nikkor.... picked mine up (a minter) for £220 and it's a peach of a lens. Good working distance from subject, rock-solid built quality. I don't use mine for 1:1 repro (bought it for taking close-ups of hooks etc..) but nevertheless, it's an amazingly sharp lens.
