hi,

as some of you may know im very new to photography and only just starting to know how to use the camera (canon 1000d)

i have ordered this lens off jessops and just want to know if its going to be any good for macro shots like flowers ect......

http://www.jessops.com/online.store...aspx?cm_mmc=Tradedoubler-_-Lenses-_-all-_-all

its at a great price, thats why ordered it. but maybe i should have asked the Q before making the order.

thanks ryan.

TBH I don't think it will offer you anything the 18-55 kit lens doesn't offer already (If you have the kit lens)

Hi Ryan

Welcome to the world of photography.
I do some macro photography but I use a dedicated macro lens the 100mm canon macro.
With macro photography it depends on what you intend to photograph, if it is say bees or insects you wont get close enough with some macro and although I use the 100mm with luck I'll ge the 180mm which will be better.

All the best with the lens you are having

That lens is a Sigma fit, so wont fit your camera.
The best way to get into macro is buy a set of auto extension tubes for the lens you already have, you can get some superb results with them.

:bonk: I think maybe you should have asked first, it won't fit a Canon, only a Sigma. When a lens is being sold at under £30 new, you have to ask yourself 'WHY?' :shake: Sorry Ryan, unless you have linked to the wrong lens, you just had one of the awful learning experiences.

thanks,no probs i can just stop the order anyways and yeah i should have asked!

thanks very much for the help.

ryan.
