Macro lens and new body?

I have been looking at macro lenses and come down to either the Tamron AF 90mm DI SP A at ~£340 or the Nikon AF-S 105mm f2.8G ED-IF VR at ~£605.
Only problem is that the Tamron will not autofocus on my body (D3100).
So will I regret not having autofocus and buy the Nikon ?
or
sell the D3100 and buy a D90 which will autofocus with the Tamron.

Apart from this I am more than happy with my camera.

Most macro tends to be done using manual anyway, so I wouldnt change the body for the sake of the lens.

What do you think of the tamron macro lens? I am thinking of getting one as my first proper makro lens.

Image quality is good. Build quality is pretty good. The only thing I didn't like about it was the autofocus collar to change to manual, but if you are going manual only, it won't be an issue.
The lens extends a lot during focusing too, but most of the cheaper lenses do this. Just something to keep in mind.

Yes, the barrel extends so you don't get so much of the extra working distance the focal length suggests, compared to internal focusing macros.

As said, you won't need AF for macro and it's better turned off (focus by moving you whole body gentle back and forth) but you'll miss it for general work, portraits etc.

BTW, I don't know of a single 'poor' macro lens. It's quite an easy design optically and they are all excellent.
