I am looking for advice for a macro lens for foreign travel photography. I already have a 150 mm, but it's too heavy and big.
My cameras is a Nikon D7500, so it has to be DX compatible, and 1:1 if possible.
I have looked at the Tamron 90 mm and seems to fit the bill but if anyone can recommend a better option I would appreciate it.
Thanks

If you want really lightweight and compact, I use a Nikon 40mm micro on my D7000. It's more of a very good close up lens than what you'd be used to as macro, though.
Read Ken Rockwell's review.

Bang for buck, the Tamron is hard to beat. The Nikkor 105 is possibly "better" but whether you'd see a difference in real life is hard to say. There's also the Sigma 105 which is again much of a muchness. If I were you, I'd keep an eye on local second hand shelves (if there are any) to see which crops up first.

I've got the Sigma 50mm and 105mm macro. Both a great, the 50mm is smaller and lighter. I did have the Tamron 90mm and that was a very good lens, you wont go wrong with any of them.

Took the Tamron out for a field test and it's is a very lovely lens. Crisp clear photos, fast auto focus and lovely to handle. Thanks for the advice
