I have been eyeing up the latest batch of macro bugs being posted up on here in the last few weeks and started capturing some myself.

I want to take it to the next level and introduce flash into it, Ive built a pringles unit and am ready to go, but want a little bit more info on diffusion, especially on what is good and bad!

How do you guys determine whether your diffusion is good or bad before tackling the bugs?

I would rather test it out indoors first and perfect before venturing into the field (or out the backdoor as it may be :-))

Any help much appreciated

Dead bugs are a good bet. I have a few I keep in a box for setting up bug lighting. They aren't as shiny as live subjects but you'll get close enough to tell if you've got good light.
