Hi... In these lockdown days I have developed an interest in tabletop/macro work. I know that it is quite common to use an enlarging lens such as my EL-Nikkor and I've ordered an adapter to connect it to the FX body and extension tubes. I already have a FX body to 52mm screw thread adapter to use my Nikon 55mm lens in reverse, so my question is can the enlarging lens be used in reverse also? And if so how can I mount it? The filter thread on the enlarger lens is 34.5mm so the ideal thing would be a 52 to 34.5mm step down ring but so far I've drawn a blank in sourcing one. Grateful for any constructive thoughts...

I don't think there's any benefit in reversing an enlarging lens and I'm not sure if people do still use them as macro lenses.

I was just wondering if you are trying to make it more complicated than it is ? Why not just get one of these? evenjust an extn tube

That is what i used and is very good for the price, even get a used one. Handy if you also have a wireless remote shutter release trigger to stop camera movement

This may give you some idea

I have an elderly but VGC micro-Nikkor 55mm lens and some cheap Chinese extension tubes so don't want to buy the Tamron which even used is not a cheap lens. Just looking to experiment a little being a total newby to this discipline. I might even invest in a budget bellows attachment.....
