Probably a long shot but can anyone recommend a small machine shop or "man with lathe" who might be interested in turning a bit of magnesium for me?

It's a small piece I want to modify my tripod.

Thanks

Paul

Most aren't interested in little jobs but I am trying to work through YP.

Years ago, I could have done it myself on my Dad's Myford Super 7 but after he died, Mum got rid of it. I didn't have space when I was a student. That's the real galling bit, I have the skills to do myself but not the tools. :(

I'll keep trying to find someone

I don't know about turning magnesium but I can turn red when I feel bashful!! :embarrassed:

damn, a few years ago i could have done this for you ! Sorry cant help now unfortunately :( good luck with the search though.

Have you tried yellow pages for engineering shops ?

Untill I got made redundant, I could have set the CNC up and run a few thousand off for you  but no more sorry.

I work in a factory with a small machine shop. One-offs are no problem for me ;)

Do you have any drawings of the mod?

Thanks for the offer of help. I think I've found a way around it by buying some more Manfrotto spares to try and tweak my tripod that way.
