I'm looking to buy a MacBook or MacBook Pro for photo editing on the go. Before I go and buy the latest £2000 machine, I wanted members advice on what they are using & is it running PS CS6 smoothly?

I bought for my self, some years back, a MacBook Pro 17" for tethered session
in the studio. Two year ago, as I had my MacPro to the workshop for maintenance,
I had to do my PP work on the book for a few days. Though the screen is much
smaller than my 27" cinema display, the work went very well.

Then I heard that it was discontinued… so I tried to buy for my sons some of the more
recent 17" machines and we are all happy with them. The CS6-Maverick combo was
just brilliant.

"Was" because we don't use any of the Master Collection
software any more as we
move to others that suit our need much better.

If you could find a decent used 17", even with minor repairs and possibly hardware
upgrades, you could end up saving money and have a larger screen!

This MacBook Pro will run CS6 or CC with ease! It also has the faster SSD which should make everything buttery smooth.

My late 2013 15inch Retina macbook pro runs CS6 or CC with ease.

2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
500GB SSD

My old Macbook Air 13" with i7, 8GB RAM and 512SSD runs Adobe CC with ease and the battery lasts all day.

I don't think you'll have any trouble with most recent MacBooks running CC and Lightroom. My 2010 15in does both with ease.

Pretty much anything from the last 3-4 years should be fine. Also check out the Refurb store on Apple's website for some bargains on later models.

:agree:

Been running PS6 on a MBP 2012 i7 Retina with 750 SSD 16Mb RAM memory and its very sweet. :)

Just buy the highest spec you can afford as it is more likely to be future proofed (as much as any computer can ever be) even if it seems to break the bank at the time.
