Ok, im looking at purchasing a macbook pro 13" the bog standard one,
when i purchase it i would like to install a SSD thats big enough to store OS X + programs. I was thinking that 120gb should do the job.
I would also like to put the original hard drive that comes with macbook with it into the superdrive bay.
I have watched tutorials of this on youtube and seems fairly easy to install the drive itself but I would need to find a case that holds the original hard drive to go into the superdrive slot.
Also how would i go about installing Lion on the SSD?
Thanks :)

I wonder if this a good move financialy.

A 13" MPB currently costs £1299 from Apple. This has a 750Gb hard drive. A 128Gb SSD upgrade costs £80. To purchase a SSD from Crucial would cost you £160 ( That's the one with the data transfer cable, £151 without) . Getting the standard Mac you could then purchase an external 500Gb or 750Gb hard drive for around £80, another £20 gets you a fire wire one for faster transfer.

This saves you a lot of hassle and does not invalidate any Apple warranty

I was going to purchase a refurb unit because my budget is very limited, and I would like the 2 drives internally because it will be for school use and I don't want to have to be carrying around a big external hard drive.
Maybe a 64gb SSD will hold my apps... I will have to do some more research :)

This is the same setup I'm running. I have the Macbook Pro 15. I ordered it from Apple with the SSD, then whipped out the Superdrive (about 30 minutes after delivery :)) and fitted one of these bays from eBay:

This is not the actual one I bought. You can do a search on "Optibay Apple". I bought a 750GB drive, and then moved my User account over to it (you can do this in Accounts Preferences).

So far, so great. I had one issue so far when I jarred the laptop quite badly, and the OptiBay connector dislodged itself from the motherboard. I knew instantly because I couldn't log in (as my user account was on the optibay drive). Reconnected, reboot, all was well. I haven't had a single problem since.

Obviously, if you have to send the Laptop back to Apple for anything, you'd be wise to swap your Superdrive back in before doing so :)
