I've just had my Macbook Pro back from being repaired under warranty for a graphics card failure but it now has no sound. Somehow the engineers have disabled all sounds on the laptop and removed the drivers. All options for sounds are greyed out and not available for selection and if I try to use the F4/F5 keys to increase/decrease the volume, there is a no entry sign so I presume that means that the sound is disabled.

I've tried to repair permissions, reinstalled the OSx and still no joy.

I really do not fancy another trip to the shop to hand it back to the plonkers who did this in the first place.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Give them a ring is one option.

You have tried a complete re-install so it is not software.

Have you tried the old favourite of reseting the NVRAM - HERE

If that doesn't work then not much you can do rather than contact them.

Yes I've tried the routine you mentioned and have now carried out a complete erase and reload but still no sound devices. Makes me wonder if there's one there!

Thanks
