Yes
I've tried a new Air and was blown away by the speed it dealt with canon R5 raw files. Is the Pro faster again enough to make it worth the extra money?

The new 14 or 16 inch with M1 pro chip will be faster yes. The 13 inch m1 will be more or less the same as the air.
I'll be listing my 13 inch 16gb M1 here in a few days if you are interested.

Got the 13 inch M1 pro. Love it, best MacBook I’ve had in the last 6 years (Al tj ouch my venerable 11 inch MacBook Air is still pretty good!)

Good to hear that the M1 air can easily deal with R5 files
I was torn between the M1 chip Mac book air and the M1 pro chip MacBook Pro and went for the pro as it will replace my desktop PC

I bought the highest spec 16" MBP... it doesn't even blink at most things I ask of it (D850, video, etc). I had a little bit of a quandary justifying it to myself; but if it lasts me 10+yrs like my last one did I'll be good (my wife upgraded to it)... I figured getting the highest spec gives it the best chance.

If I have an issue with it it's calibrating the monitor... you basically can't right now.

I'm using a 2010 Air as my server at the moment.

Next to my 2017 13 inch Pro it's quite sluggish but it does a pretty good job for a computer that's more than a decade old. Conveniently, the Pro fits snugly into the "MacBook Air" branded Neoprene jacket I used for the Air when it was my "carry everywhere" computer. :naughty:

If I remember correctly, the lower spec ram on the Air has a lower spec gpu as well (7 cores as opposed to 8). So if you go for the Air get the 16gb version.

Personally I would think about it slowing itself when it gets hot, for photo editing and video I would opt for the MBP over the Air.

I have a M1 MBP 13" and it flied through video (even multiple 4k on layers in premier), anything photographic or design I do, and also 3d and rendering. I have had the fans go three times since I bought it last March, it takes everything I throw at it with ease.

My thoughts were to upgrade when the pro chip was released, but it seems to be doing all I need it to!
