Robgigphot said:Yes that combination will work well. I have used it before with a Mac Book Air but now use it with a Mac Book pro which has flash memory. I would reccomend a high quality USB cable up to 15 ft in length such as the one from Tether Tools and to reformat your card in the camera prior to the shoot as lightroom 4 struggles to detect the camera if multiple folders are present on the card. I also use a portable Lacie rugged hard drive connected to it so not to use the onboard memory.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think I'm gradually talking myself into it!
Yeah the MBA uses "just" an SSD. Though it's sprinkled with Apple pixie dust so it's slightly faster than most and much more expensive than any other![]()
+1, I didn't want to pay Apple price for my SSD and just got it later from Amazon. Works perfectly fine and over a year later no problems with it.![]()
There is a massive variance in quality/speed though. I have 2 SSDs and a couple of spinning metal drives in the latest desktop.
One of the SSDs actually bench tests very slightly slower than a particularly fast spinning metal drive I have. The other one is ridiculously quick.
Hi,I bought Crucial M4, which is not exactly a slow SSD.![]()
Hi,
I've been planning to upgrade my MBP with an SSD, but every time I do some research on the matter my tiny brain is left spinning and confused with all the tech specs, views and reviews. Consequently my gut reaction would be to take the easy route and get a Crucial drive as I always buy my memory from them and had excellent service.
I assume you're happy with your setup? Or with hindsight would you go another route?
Many thanks.
Cheers,
Tony
NB: I apologise if it's bad form to take the OP's thread a little bit off topic, but as his question has been answered I thought it'd be okay.
