Yes
On the off chance, is there any one planning a visit to mac loop this year and would not mind letting me tag along?
I have always fancied going but never got round to it, I want to try and change that this year.

I live LE65 area and happy to meet up/share a lift or generally what ever.

Many thanks
Jon

I go every couple of weeks with 3 empty car seats mate if that's any use?

Sounds good.
Do you go for a day or more?
What location do you travel from (Liverpool area)?
Maybe could meet up somewhere enroute

Many thanks

I have been once before and would like to revisit. I would prefer to go in the summer as I don't fancy sitting on the hillside in the middle of winter. I live in LE65 too :)

maybe could arrange something for later in the year.
Whereabouts are you (LE65)?

Yes that would be good. I'm in Ashby. Where are you?

Also Ashby-de-la-Zouch :)

That's handy!
I would suggest going when the weather warms up a bit as there is a lot of sitting around waiting. Maybe from April / May onwards. I don't work on Thursdays or Fridays so can go at fairly short notice or any time that suits you. It may be necessary to stop over one night unless you fancy driving through the night?

Okay, unfortunately I have to work all week, so would have to book time off, the less the better. Could drive down after work for the next day but early start no issue either.

I don't mind an early start or driving down the night before. We can probably leave it to nearer the time to decide.

Sure, maybe have a meet up prior to going

Hi, could someone who has been tell me if you can get a motability scooter up there, I'm talking about an off road one.

Cad East you can drive up most of the way, I'm not sure you'd get up Bwlch though

Thank you, I am up in the area quite soon, so think it might be worth giving it a try if you can drive up most of way at one spot.

I believe it's a single track road with at least two gates you have to open / close behind you if that affects you .

Thanks, I would be going up with an able bodied person so that wouldn't be a problem.:)

Corris corner too possibly. There is a zig zagging farm track most of the way up which the farmer goes up on riding a quad bike. It would be courteous to ask him though if you see him because near the top you would have to park it up and contour around the hill on foot out of sight to the location for photos.

Having said that you might get some shots from the top of the zig zags!if the walk or leaving your scooter is impractical.

There is one other location i can think of which is up in the forest opposite dinas with a break in the trees you might see them from without needing to walk...

Very doubtful with any of the 3 tiers at the Bwlch, not just the steep, scree slope, but the crossing rocks for lower and mid platforms.
Small car park at Cad East (holds 3-5 cars if suitably and considerately parked), then a walk of about 80yds up to the edge.
Once at the edge of Cad East, the pathway along the edge may be manageable.
Agree also about the zigzag for Corris.
If the mobility issue is considerable, there is scope to stay in the car park on the west side and watch in comfort and warmth as they come through overhead.
Conversely, the very cramped Bwlch car park (fills early) offers a similar scope to view.
Whatever you decide, hope you get some aircraft traffic through, and above all, enjoy the experience.

Thank you folks I really appreciate the advice and it sounds as if I might be able to make a couple of the places on a really good day.

And sorry if I hijacked the thread

To be honest.....no
Although you can drive up east, it still leaves you about 120ft in height to climb over pretty much boggy terrain and 1 'rise' and fall in ground before the last climb to the lowest plateau area.
Distance over the boggy terrain is about 500ft in total.
It's not pleasant at times for able bodied persons let alone anyone with a slight disablement, and a definite no no for a mobility scooter.

I'm with Dave in part, most of the places aren't that accessible for mobility scooters, Cad East is probably the only location, but definitely depends on the conditions even though you can drive most of the way up, there's still a walk to where you need to be and the area on top probably not suitable for your scooter. Corris corner again where you need to get too is not accessible by mobility scooter, there is a track most of the way up, but definitely not suitable for your car and the farmer will definitely have words with you in you tried to drive up the track. As for the other locations, definitely not suitable, some able bodied people can't even make one or two of the locations due to the climbs. However you could park up at the bwlch and stay there as the aircraft fly straight over your head, there's an old petrol station forecourt at Dinas Mawddwy that you could park at or the roundabout at Mallwyd again they fly straight past you.
