Me again ,Lesson learnt bought a seagate back up plus for LR put it in following the instructions! Mac turned off now wont start up all I get is this (see photo)Image1501358745.360024.jpg
1 Restore from back up, wont allow the only password Iv ever used.
2 Reinstall macOS. States not enough space on hard drive.
3 Get help on line, cant see serial number to book a call/chat online.
4 Disk utility ,haven't a clue what to do in there.
Tried start with shift, command +R ,Option?
Really getting p ssed with the thing now

Think its the only option now ,should have bought a pc.

is your seagate an external hdd? have you tried unplugging it to see if the mac loads?

You say that because you have no solution but
if it is correctly fixed, you'll regret the words…

All that's plugged in is keyboard mouse (apple)and ethernet cable still nothing.

Thanks for that still no joy, just booked in for tomorrow at apple shop££££££££££[emoji79]

Sounds like a hard disk fault.if it's under warranty, speak to AppleCare. I had a faulty screen last week and they have a new collect and return service. Only available if under warranty and can be diagnosed on the phone. They are very patient. Worth a try.

Really stop flapping and explain what you have done to get to this stage!

bought a disk and "put it in". so its an internal disk or external?

As Neil asks - this is pretty key to know.

There are people on here with a huge amount of experience, but none of them are mind readers.

So it was a Seagate 8 tb backup+ (external) plugged in started to follow on screen message itvsaid to download driver for mac which I did then screen went black turned off ,so switched it back on to get the screen shot above. Now nothing other that the keyboard plugged in still nothing.

First thing to do is to go into disk utility and try to repair the disk. It's non-destructive so nothing to lose.

Read this before going into Apple, it could save you lots of ££££'s
https://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/

It seems Apple acknowledge UK consumer law :)

Ours died last year, took it to a Apple recommended supplier and had it fixed free of charge. Luckily I had the receipt showing it was bought 4.5 years ago, on the repair sheet was the cost of £480, so one happy person.
Bought it from Currys, when I enquired with them there was no mention of a warranty beyond 'their' 12 months.......grrrrr.

You’ve probably done this already but just in case:

Reset PRAM - Hold command + option + P + R after power on until you hear the chrome
Reset SMC - Google this one as it depends on your model

This will ensure all configs are ok and can fix a variety of issues.

Next I’d ask that you post a screen shop of the disk utilitiy - just to see if we can determine if the Seagate drivers have changed the status of the partitions

Well thanks for the help ,just back from Apple in Sutton coldfield young lad took an hour to fix clicking about pressing this and that all fixed and only cost me £10.

It would have been useful for you (and us) just what he did do.

Pleased its all fixed, but of equal importance what was it, and what caused it ?

Thing I remember was he mentioned unmounted ? And my mac didn't like the seagate 8tb but thats been sorted now.
