Hi all, off to twickenham for a plastic warrior show at the winning post on saturday. Does anyone know if there is much around either close by or not to much of a detour off the m1, as its a 300 mile round trip. Wont be going into london though.

You don't say what you're looking for, street, landscape etc and you also don't say how long you'll have for photography but both Bushey and Richmond parks are not far away from Twickenham. The Thames is really close to the centre of Twickenham, there are enough pubs and river life to keep you entertained.

As for off the M1 just get yourself a map and look at the corridor either side of the motorway and see if anything takes your fancy.

It depends a little if you're happy to pay or not. Snakes and Ladders @ Syon Park or Climbers and Creepers @ Kew are both close and very good for 6-10 year olds. Thames in the middle of Twickenham and its quite a green part of London. I'd add Syon park to the list Nick's given above. Rugby museum and stadium tour if that appeals is good. Richmond is probably nicer for shopping then Twickenham, but only a 2 mile pleasant walk or 4 minute train journey. There is an awful lot going on.

BTW - If you can face it, and on a Saturday it shouldn't be a problem then the M1,North Circular will probably be quicker then M1,M25,M3 and knock about 30 miles each way off your trip. (My folks live just off M1 j24 so I do the trip often)
