Guys Gordon Buchannan has a programme on what should be here,it's nearly over now it's on BBC2 but I guess you'll be able to watch on I player

If you can PLEASE watch this.........in our country an escaped Lynx is shot.........https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/nov/11/lilith-escaped-lynx-is-killed-over-growing-public-safety-fears

.To me this brill little film shows us why they should be here in the UK and how unfounded the fear facet is that would make us feel it's ok to kill them..

They will mess with few folks, animals keepers like me, if they came back but the way this species will enhance our ecosystems are huge

It's just brilliant nature film making please watch

take care

You need to check out Rewilding Britain, they have been looking into Lynx and wolf being reintroduced.
Biggest problem is that there are very few safe places for them now with all the development and farmers
wouldn't be too happy, but it is something I would like to see.
As for Lilith the lynx from Borth that was shot, you need to do some reading up on that and the 2nd one they managed to strangle !! At least they no longer have any lynx, their last 3 having moved to the Isle of Wight after they failed to meet regulations for keeping them

I remember the Lynx shot Ingrid vaguely remember the strangling.I'm fairly sure you posted about it?

I splatted a link in the post above almost to check myself if i'm honest, ......

........... you are right mate............. I ALWAYS need to do some reading (y) For the mo I'll weather the storm .:)

More important was others might watch this and think about whether we could have lynx back here ..................... Gordon 's film resonated with me the first time .................I just wanted others to see it .it's a brill bit of film making

Mate....................... a lynx in EU isn't safe................................., there is no such thing as safe with any predator in our world to many of you and me.

. There will be losses to farmers...... livestock ............. I'm that guy for a good while of my adult life, I know how hard they work and how much they care. My wanting lynx would not be without consequence . I did want to put a shot cat with Gordons film and own the fact that's how my society thinks, it's so sad

thanks so much for the reply, stunning animals ahh ya gotta dream mate:D

There was a BBC documnetary about Yellowstone's wolf reintroduction program, really worth a look if you haven't seen it, you can sometimes catch it on Sky's 'Eden' channel.

That is a great success story, shows what reintroducing a top predator can do to balance the ecology
But Yellowstone is a big wild place with plenty of natural prey, and those that have strayed very often get shot

If you haven't read it, try reading The Wolf Border by Sarah Hall, makes for interesting thoughts on what could happen
even with accidental release, it also assumes that Scotland won the independence vote, luckily for the wolves
