Hi ,

Curious to hear people's comments I like gloss the finish but lustre looks pro I'm looking for your opinion

Thank you

For framing behind glass, go for lustre. But for mounted prints I use both depending upon the image itself, sometimes I will have both printed and compared final results.

Going behind glass use luster. Gloss also tends to get folds on in it.

I agree I seen one of my gloss prints behind glass with winkles

Lustre behind glass - what are winkles? :)

To put my prints behind glass, I window mount first, then use 3M spray on the rear of the print before attaching the back board, then I press the image firmly against the backboard so no wrinkles will appear.

Who do you lot use for large prints on lustre? (as in 20x16" and bigger??)

I agree lustre seems better option I use loxleye for large prints with there roes software there very good

I thought dscl changed paper at a certain size?

18x12" looks like their biggest print size on lustre? :(

Hmmmm yes it does... Thinking lol... What have I been ordering lol... Pearl

What are the pearl prints like? Are they the more expensive option dscl offer??

DSCL print using fuji frontier 570 printers using a true photographic print process up to 18x12, after that they use epson inkjets

they do 2 'pearl' prints
fuji pearl up to 18x12, and then epson ultra pearl for larger prints

fuji pearl are 3 times the price but i've never used DSCL for inkjets

fuji pearl prints are somewhere between glossy and a piece of polished aluminium. They have crushed up beads of mica in the paper which reflect light back. They can look stunning with the right image but don't suit all subjects, and don't really work for black and whites, they reflect light like crazy

epson pearl is just (from what I can gather) standard glossy paper with a lacquered surface

Lustre or Matte everytime for me.
I use Satin in the darkroom with is a real smoooth lustre finish & it feels wonderful.

What's matte paper lol

Lustre only more so? :}

We have an Epson 7900 24" printer.
Whether printed on matte paper or gloss paper, the finish can be changed with the laminate.

I find printing on paper then sealing with either a hot press or cold roller gives any combination desired.

Prints bonded to dibond aluminium or onto mdf make a nice change from mounts/frames and foam board.
But experimentation is good.

I agree the aluminium pics looked great at focus.

I am forever trying to decide which looks best luster or gloss or lustre or gloss!:bonk:

Should really be dry mounted. I dry mount pretty much all the photos I frame unless asked not to. Then it's a hinge mount.
