What are they like?

I bought a cheap adapter on ebay, for a lot less than the one on play.com (although it took 2-3 weeks to arrive). Mine has the useful feature of having a tripod mount as part of the adapter, and is just fine. Bear in mind that, as well as having no auto focus, you'll also have no control of aperture - i.e. the lenses will be used wide open.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm talking about EF lenses here. As others have noted, you can control the aperture with the old FD lenses.

I've got a few old manual focus Canon FD lenses that I use with my G1. I use a Chinese adaptor that I got from an Ebay user called "Roxsen" for about £17. The lenses have aperture rings so you can control the f-stop.

FD yes, EF/EF-S no.

I stand corrected. I didn't realise they did EF->micro 4/3

Have a look at this one HERE

It's the same make as the one my wife bought me for christmas to mount my old OM lenses to my G3... The build quality is excellent and the results I've had so far have been impressive! :)
