Wonder if someone can advise me/explain the lens correction feature in LR, in particular to the Distortion and Vignetting "numbers" . Should these be zero?

Probably a daft question but if you dont ask?

Adobe has tested many lens and build profiles for them. The information includes distortion, vignetting, etc., so this can be automatically corrected by the use of the correct lens profile in LR.

ok, Johhnnypanic. So once Ive selected my "lens" if the vignetting and distortion numbers are 100? What does that mean?

100 is the base level for that profile. If they sat base level at 0 you would only be able to wind it up. By setting it at 100 you can go up and down. Try moving them about.

I knew it would be as simple as that! derrr

Thanks very much

More than welcome.

Those Julieanne Kost videos, as well as those on Adobe.tv are excellent resources on how to use Lightroom.

There may not be a profile for your particular lens/camera. if not
have a look at PTLens

I have used it for years. They let you do a ten shot test for free (it is cheap anyway under... £16)

It is more accurate than the photoshop version and corrects lens distortion automatically.
