Hi All,

I've got a really annoying problem. In the Lightroom Web module, the preview and the final export of any flash based gallery (Simpleviewer for example) shows the colours to be way off and leaning heavily towards the red side.

What I've tried:
1) Recalibrating monitors (no real reason but did it anyway)
2) Viewed output in Safari and Firefox, both the same
3) Run simpleviewer via PS instead of LR, no luck
4) Upgraded adobe flash to latest version, still no joy

When I use an HTML based gallery everything is perfect....ahhhh....... I'm sure I didn't have this issue on my PC.

In fact, I've now tried viewing the content on a PC and it looks perfect. Why the hell does it look bad on my 'calibrated' Mac????

If someone has a magic tick box to suggest I will really appreciate it.

Cheers.

OK first question.....

What method did you use to calibrate your monitor?

I'll have a look at some of my images in a flash gallery and see if I see any difference. ( HTML look fine)

Thanks for the replies.

Calibrated it with Spyder 3 Pro, although the pictures look perfect in Lightroom Library and Develop modules, it's just in Web and in the final flash result.

You're right about the colour space thing it is very much like that, however it's not a configurable option and as far as I know it's sRGB.

Naturally most of my clients will be on PCs so it's not a massive issue, it's just slightly annoying.

This may help somewhat. On the left of the image is a screenie from the flash output, the right is a screenie from the library module. See the difference?

Interestingly when I did a 'save for web' in PS even the normal one looked slightly red'er and the flash one looked even worse! So it seems to be a progressive thing. If I changed the preview mode in PS to 'Mac No Calibration' then the redness goes, but when I choose 'Monitor Profile' the redness returns. So whatever colourspace flash and PS are using seems to be different to LR although they all say sRGB. Confused.com

Lightroom uses ProPhoto RGB colourspace as default, so it is probably converting to sRGB on output for compatibility. Im not sure but im guessing you could check this using Adobe Flash Professional.

Ive never tried does lightroom export the Images seperately or embed them? If they're not embedded you can check the colourspace in photoshop.

Seems your mac is selectivly applying your spider profile

ff3 (for example) is colourspace aware, so it may ignore your spyder profile and apply SRGB profile, whereas with flash it leaves it alone

Both Lightroom and PS don't embed the images, they render correct size files for whichever gallery you are using and then places them in relevant folders (thumbs etc.) within the folder where you choose for the gallery to be exported to.

As this is the case you could open those files up and see that they have the correct profile.

However this still leaves you with the issue of when the gallery flash file reads the files it may strip the colour profile, it may be something to take up either with Adobe/Simpleviewer?
