Do many people use loxley?

Is there a reason as to why there prices on ROES are cheaper than that on the website for standard prints?

Just looking for a place to offer prints to potential clients and am torn between them and DCSL.

Thanks
Matt

get a sample from both - from personal experience DSCL is cheaper and no difference in quality.

Any problem you have with Loxley will be fixed quickly and at no extra cost, DCSL will tell you it's not their fault and they can't help. Loxley every time.

depends what the problem is - if you send in a crap photo and get a crap print back thats not the printers fault. you can't make such a general statment about a company without posting what exactly happened

DSCL are great if you retouch and colour correct your own images and want them printed precisely as they appear on your calibrated screen
loxley, metro, etc are for when you need a human to do the colour correction for you.

Also DSCL are so cheap because they use a fuji minilab, the frontier 570- prints about 2000 images an hour and costs only a few thousand dollars, prints fully automated and can do up to 18x12, they also seem to have a skeleton crew, and have a laissez -faire approach to their printing. Other labs, like peak, use a lightjet printer which prints massive, but costs hundreds of thousands, prints much slower and is not automated, and they also employ people to do all the color correction by hand, and must spend a lot of time helping their customers, so it's not that other labs 'overcharge' or DSCL are 'inferior'- they just run 2 different business models, and are priced accordingly

I got the same print done at loxley and snapmad, and could see no difference at all, I had to get it done a snapmad because loxley took so long to deliver

most labs use fuji noritsu machines for smaller prints , on lightjets youd be there all day printing off orders and have so much waste youd never make a profit so there for larger prints, metallic and other specialist papers. dscl are basically a high street photographic shop, loxley is an actual lab thats a big reason why dscl is cheaper also they have lower end equipment but at end of day the results should always be around the same beetween labs if there any good anyway,if you get one thats vastly diff than the rest chances are its poor quality and cheap because of it

both loxely and DSCL use fuji frontier systems for the standard stuff IIRC which are the same quality as the noritsu (which is not made by fuji).

sorry poah but your wrong

loxley do not use the frontiers, they use noritsu QSS series printers, which uses kodak dls software installed and high defenition laser system 640dpi

dscl use the fuji frontier lp series with the Fujifilm Frontier Workflow Management Software installed 600dpi

quality will be similar but the noritsu has a slight edge with its image correction software

and fuji noritsu is accurate because they are strategic partners and noritsu make both machines, along with the rest of fujis photofinishing machinery

i have worked both machines and although they are made by same company they are not the same!

Clearly I didn't remember correctly about what printer loxley use :(

No difference in quality though

I've just had two sample 24x16 framed prints done by Loxley and was impressed with the end result, even though one has to be returned due to a frame construction anomaly. Customer service has been very good to deal with thus far.
