Those of you that use Loxley for your wedding albums, which album is the most popular?

Also, what process do you have in place for the couple to choose their album, samples?

Coffee book seems most popular - let them choose the images upto a certain amount as per how many spreads you offer, and do the layout in their designer software

Easy

I'm fine with them chosing the images, how do you let them choose the album/coffee book is my problem? Do you have samples?

Never understand how people can call a coffee table book an album. IMHO an album is something like the Bellissimo range. Substantial, quality, durable and not what a client could cobble together themselves from the like of Blurb or even Tesco.

From the Bellisomo range which is the most popular album?

Bellisomo for me, i sell my expert eye to choose the images for the b&g, over 200 albums sold no complaints as yet! maybe not the best way but it works for me!

I really can't get my head round couples allowing their photographer to choose the photos for the album. The whole thing about photography is so subjective - "one man's meat is another man's poison" and all that.

Thanks for all the help, I'm struggling to find a way to let the couple choose their album without spending a small forrtune on samples.

Need to have a think.

Trust me, the Small Fortune, in samples will be repaid many times over. As soon as the B&G see the quality they will nearly always choose the album option in my packages. I offer an upgrade path in both size and number of spreads. The upgrades nearly come to the actual price of the album. Without samples this would be nearly impossible. Loxley offer a discount for samples and I only sell Bellissimo Perfetto albums.

Problem is I only do one, possibly two weddings per year so it's a fair outlay in relation to intended use.

I should say haggis, I get them to proof it before ordering!

And yet when we discuss it with the B&G they have no reservations, and they get to sign off the proof album.

I've just finished my first album for my first clients. We discussed options before the wedding, I designed it, and they signed off the proof.

Surely the whole idea of hiring a photographer' services is to rely upon their experience, knowledge and style to deliver the final product. Every album you produce will be a long lasting and permanent representation of your brand, and is a potential advertisement for your business.

As long as the client knows what they are getting, and are 100% happy before it goes to print, why spend time going back and forth with the client who doesn't know what they are doing or what to ask for? Just my opionion of course.

Hear hear/here here

Not saying that this is correct, but the more albums you show, the more you will confuse the client. I still get confused every time I go to Focus (or similar shows)!!!

Cheers.

How do you get them to proof it?

My major point in the choosing of images is that we don't know which people, other than the Bridal party, they will want in their album. We do discuss a shot list with them in detail before the day and a few of my Brides that I've mentioned the "photographer does design including photo choice" have been astounded and their words (not mine) included ego and arrogance. Admittedly they do often ask for some help in choosing once they realise how difficult it can be. Still don't think it means we should assume we can do it although we do offer the choice.
