Spoke to Loxley today regarding a 24 x 16" fine art print and they recommend 1mb per inch on the long edge.

So does that mean I need a 24mb file or have I got that totally wrong ?

If I haven't then how would I get a jpeg file that size, even the d800 doesn't produce a jpeg that big

Confused

Sounds about the right size I just resize to the print size at 300dpi and I've never had problems, right or wrong I may be but the end product is always good.

No idea why they're talking about 1mb per inch.

A D800 file is 7360 pixels on the long edge. Divide by 300 (ppi) and it comes out to 24.53 inches.

Just send them a file with 7200 pixels on the long edge and tell them to print at 300ppi - that'll give you a 24" print.
