Hi Guys,

I am off to watch this tomorrow. I haven't been for years, the last time I was there the pilot ejected from a harrier. Had a great view also as my mum has a cruiser so we managed to get anchored at see.

This time will be my first time with a camera, and I was wondering if my 55-250mm on my 40D will be fine for this?

Also, what kind of settings should I be using, as I am guessing that shooting at the sky is going to blow it out? I don't have access to any filters unfortunately.

Thanks,

Craig.

weather forecast is pretty poor - and if you are at sea 250 MAY be enough, otherwise I would think you would need longer................ A axis is a way out to sea.

Going tomorrow too with my kids. Don't think I'll take my camera as I've only got a 200mm reach on a FF.

Craig: 250mm on a crop body should work out at around 400mm I believe, Worth having a go at some pics.

Anyone know how good the Park and Ride system is?

i would recommend the asda £10 park and walk. We used Kessingland last year and was a bloody nightmare! OK getting in, getting out though a different story.

Cheers Lynton.

I'll be there tomorrow, luckily my parents have a beach hut so I'll be able to dodge the rain.

I will try and get the boat out at Oulton Broad into Lowestoft Harbour.

Lets hope the forecast is wrong.

Did anybody go down today?

I gave it a miss, the weather was atrocious!

I went today. F'ing weather..............peed down, then stopped then peed down, then stopped then sun, then rain..............

Anyway, I ended up taking my old 20D with an old 28-200 Tamron lens. Now I know a bad workman blame his tools etc. but I don't think I got any great pics of the planes. I took a few snaps of my son and other stuff and I'll post a few in pics for pleasure later.

Not a bad day, despite the weather. A few no-shows from the programme, and forgot to keep an eye on my aperture etc, plus not having my L glass and 5D2, but at least I had something to mess around with.

Didn't take Lynton's advice and parked at Kessingland, but didn't experience any trouble, so they must have got it sorted.

I went downyesterday and to be honest I didn't get any decent shots :'( I used my Sigma 70-300 and it was the first time I'd used it in earnest and most of the pics were not very sharp. I used a shutter speed of 640 to 800 and mostly they were around f9. I also kept the lens below full zoom to try and avoid soft pics but that didn't help.
Back to the drawing board
