Lowepro Mini Trekker Rucksack

This is specially requested by Marcel who is looking at rucksacks and considering one of these. I bought one yesterday - the Lowepro Mini Trekker AW (All weather) Not to be confused with the older Mini Trekker Classic.

It's not cheap- Warehouse Express are selling them for £69.99. I got Jessups to price match on it after a bit of a struggle, (They were asking £79.99) but I did buy other stuff as well so I was in a good bargaining position. I did look at other options, but the quality of this one just screams at you in comparison.

It's quite rigid compared to cheaper versions and beautifully padded, with pockets everywhere - I'm still finding some of them.(:D) There's even an all weather rain cover cunningly concealed in the bottom which pulls out, unfolds, and slips over the whole bag, so there's no danger of rain getting through zips etc to your gear inside. I've no doubt it will hold all my gear with no problems at all. The adjustable pockets are very adaptable. There's a fold out tripod pocket which will enable you to easily carry a folded tripod on the back of the pack if you wished and a couple of substantial loops you could tie awkward items on to.

There are contoured pads where the pack rests aganst your back, and the contoured padded shoulder straps just combine to make the thing fit like a skin when you wear it - it's extremely comfortable. A sternum strap connects the two shoulder straps together across your chest so the shoulder straps stay put. If you wanted to engage in some very strenuous activity, there's a substantial waist strap to ensure the pack wont move around at all, but for normal use it's not needed. All the straps are connected with quick release clips.

oooh look at all those compartments, you've given my Lowepro Orion Trekker backpack an inferiority complex now... :shock:

Me likes that backpack, mind you my gear or lack of it would get lost in there.
 
:D It's actually surprising small and compact. You don't look like you're off to tackle the North Face of the Eiger when you're wearing it.
 
It looks exactly what I'm needing , my Hama lookalike, is bulging at the seams. PP have an offer on this as well, £50 if you collected the three tokens.

I've got more bad news for you CT.
There are two Mini Trekkers from Loweprowe, the older Classic and the newer AW ( all weather ).
Jessops normally sell the Classic for £68.99 and the AW for £79.99.

The bag in PP is the AW and it is a steal at £50 but you have to buy 3 mags = £60 but you get three great mags to read. ( I'm waffling )

Anyway, CT are you sure it's the Classic. If it is take it back and slap the sales assistant that sold you it.

Nothing wrong with the bag itself. Indeed the classic and AW are great bags especially for in flight bags for holidays.

I've been using the Mini trekker AW for 2 years now and it still looks as good as the day I got it.

I find the waist strap to be a must when out and about because I don't really like having both the straps on my shoulders, so the waist strap and the right shoulder strap serve to keep the bag in the right place, On the times I have used it with both straps fastened I find that the chest strap sits too high but thats probably more to do with me and the way I like to wear the bag.

The one BIG gripe I have with it is it's storage potential :icon_eek: , i end up carrying round way to much :p

I've extolled the virtues of this bag a few times before, I paid just over a ton when it first came out....so your getting a bargain with it now :censored:
 
I have one of the original Mini Trekkers as well as another slightly larger Lowe Pro bag. I regularly call the Mini Trekker into sevice for single days and short trips. Its a great rucksack :)
 
Yep, i have the mini trekker AW too, it's a great bag... strong well-balanced, voluminous and good looking.

digitalfailure, did you know the chest straps are height-adjustable. I only discovered that the other day.

That sounds like just what i need ! since i got my big lowe pro bag, there have been occasions where i didnt need to take everything, and wished i had a smaller bag as well !
 
yup, I was aware that they slide. :)
But the range of movement isn't that great. I like to wear a chest strap across my chest, not just below the neck. :)

Still, it's not often I take the bag out on the bike, and I try not to do anything too lairy while I have the camera with me :lol:

can you shorten the shoulder straps so that the chest strap comes down further?
 
I have the Lowepro Nature Trecker AW II , its huge, but very comfortable, as i took it 24k miles to Oz and back,,


it came with what is called a 'Daypack' which you can decant the bits you want/need and go lightweight for the day

I'm a little unsure of what you mean m8, when you say can I shorten the shoulder straps.


For me, when I have the trekker in a comfortable position on my back, i have the chest strap at it's lowest and I find it around 2" too higher than it should be. it sits across my collar bones rather than my chest.

This is probably more to do with my build, rather than a design flaw in the bag. :whistling
 
I have a Mini Trekker AW and also a Photo Trekker AWII.
The Mini Trekker is perfect for those days when you only need a couple of lenses.

Well, you know where the shoulder straps go over your shoulders on down past the chest strap, there is a buckle to adjust the shoulder strap about 2" below the chest strap. I jsut wondered if yoou had it to loose weherby the weight of your bag was pulling it further down your back and so pulling the chest strap up higher. If that was the case, tightening the shoulder straps might make a difference.

But as you say, it might just be your shoulders
