Hi guys,

Forgive me if this had been asked before, I've tried to search but have been fruitless.

I have a go pro that my wife bought me, whilst I love it I don't have that many reasons to use it. I'd really like a drone to try some aerial photography. I've looked at the DJ phantom which looks lovely but it's expensive.

Are there any options that aren't quite as pricey?

The problem is that to get worthwhile footage you really need a gimbal too and if you want to be able to see what the camera sees (FPV) that's a further expensive add on.
By the time you did hat you may as well buy a Phantom 3 with (almost as good) camera and FPV built in - from about £500
There are other makers which you could simply stick the camera underneath with standard mounts - I wouldn't risk it with an expensive goro though, when you can get a cheap copy like the SJ4000 for about £50

Now that the new Phantom is out, new DJI Phantom 3's (standard model) can be had for circa £400. I was looking a few weeks ago and ended up buying my Dad an Advanced for £629.

The Standard has practically the same camera as Advanced, and can do 2.7K
The Advanced has the more sophisticated radio link and really is worth the bit extra, because the range is about 5x more - plus more robust connection close by.

Thanks guys, I have the 4K GoPro already. Should I consider selling it and getting the drone with camera already attached? Would rather keep the GoPro but it sounds like it's more cost effective to sell up.
