Yes
So it should be, Prime users in the US have had this for ever.

Unless the streaming and choice of lovefilm instant has improved dramatically since I last used it I'll be giving it a miss.

It changed a few months ago (new app on the TV/PS3 etc. at the same time) and I believe there will be more titles available

Well it's not exactly free since Prime on its own only costs £49.00 and this will cost £79.00.

I used to have Prime but canceled it since the deliveries were often not made because the couriers couldn't seem to bother to deliver but just said there was no one in even when I had waited all day.

Now I just use the free Post office delivery which you can often get with most items and they are much more reliable.

I'm too lazy to look. Is that the pitiful Lovefilm streaming service or that rather excellent Lovefilm postal service?

It's the streaming service I'm afraid

Ah that's a shame. They either had to add content or make it free to get people interested.

Spoiler for anybody who doesn't yet have Lovefilm streaming: it's rubbish.

I'm quite enjoying having Lovefilm Instant (streaming) at the moment, however I did get pretty cross when I'd finished watching all 8 series of Spooks on there, only to find out that there are another 2 series which they don't have! How can they have 8series but not the last two! It makes no sense!

You understand it's owned by a firm that sell box sets, right?

Actually that had never occurred to me, I suppose I still don't really associate lovefilm with amazon

I know it's scant consolation, but Netflix only has seasons 1-8 as well.
Actually, that is a bit of a consolation! Although that means that I cna't watch it there either :(

This!!

Just had an email from Amazon. I get to keep the Lovefilm streaming that I don't use and they decrease my Lovefilm cost by £5.99 a month.

Also, Prime goes up..... But overall I'm about 40 quid a year up. Which is almost enough to pay for Netflix.

I don't use Lovefilm, but I have Netflix. My Prime is up for renewal in October so I'll trial Lovefilm until then and decide whether it's worth keeping over Netflix.

So Amazon Prime (with streaming) in the US is 79USD (£47) and in Germany is 49 Euros (£40). At those prices I'd continue my membership. I wonder if Amazon UK is actually trying to reduce the number of Prime members as delivery costs have risen like they've done with rationalising their supersaver delivery?

I use Amazon a lot and with £49 Prime I would buy things on Amazon that might have been a bit cheaper elsewhere but the general reliability of the next day delivery and convenience meant I was willing to pay that. But £79 up front is a step too far in my opinion. I can see the sense if you're an avid Lovefilm Instant user (I only use by post) but from what I understand, Instant is nowhere near as good as NetFlix, doesn't have subtitles for the hard of hearing and seems to have a limited number of supporting devices, so doesn't cut the mustard as an "add-on".

It'll be a PITA but after nearly 7 years I won't be renewing my Prime membership and that also means I'll be using other websites for far more purchases. Strange decision by Amazon.

So how do I get lovefilm streaming over my Panasonic TV? No app that I can see - do I have to link the laptop to the TV??

I'm p***ed off how you now puchase and rent films if it is new :(

As a non kindle user of Amazon i will not pay the prime price as i with an iPad can not borrow books, i thought it was loaded before now £79 and limited in how i can get it on my main set as i use apple TV which has Netflix but not Prime

No Thanks

My husband and I are both Amazon Prime members (he is away from home the vast majority of the time) but neither of us are interested in streaming films and the new price is ridiculous. We may just go down to one account between us, or we may cancel both Prime memberships. Not a good move by Amazon as far as we're concerned.

Can't you already share a Prime account with another family member? I thought you could add up to 5 people.

Also, I share my Amazon account (the whole thing) with my wife so we can both read Kindle novels we have bought. It seems mean that you can't otherwise.

Not at different addresses, I don't think.

Dunno.

Mine says I can share with 4 "family" members. It doesn't ask for their address (though I guess it knows it - Amazon know nearly as much as Google). I do know that if I buy something then delivery to any UK address is Primable - e.g. if I buy a gift and want it delivered direct or if I were staying somewhere else. Worth a check?

BTW my Prime renews in July at £49. It goes up in July 2015
