Hi All,

This is my first ever bash at photo processing.... and in reality my first ever trip out with a DSLR.

Photo was taken earlier today at Centre Parks, when our friends 18 month old ran off down the path without us! Opportunistic shot, so had no time at all to think about composure and the setup of my recently acquired D90!

Anyway, here is the naked shot:

I figured the best way to develop this was soft vulnerable baby vs big bad forest!

My edit is probably a bit too dark looking at it again.
 
Actually I like your processed version. The original doesn't really do much but the slightly darker look makes it altogether more dramatic and a little edgy.

One thing you might try is cloning out the lamp. Aside from that the picture could have been taken any time in the past. It might give it more atmosphere without the lamp.
 
BW does work well Rowla but the cloning shows up too much. Would be better to plant a tree in place of the lamp. Also the crop seems to take away from the drama - I like it with the tall trees overshadowing the child.
