Hi all, me and another TPFM, took a trip to the loop yesterday, following http://www.franknoort.nl/ directions, although we drew blanks, we had a little uncertainty of our bearing, and hope to be corrected on where we went wrong.
Travelling back up from the now non-derelict cross foxes inn, we passed a largish car park to our right, which holds about 25-30 cars, it looked like a pay car park, but their was an orange bag over what could've been a meter, I think the words on the orange bag saying "Out of Service" made us draw this conclusion, a little further up the road to our Left was a smallish lay-by, what could hold possible 3-5 cars.
Having parked in this lay-by, we set off on foot complete with tackle and walked back in the direction of the cross foxes, after a couple of hundred yards, we came across a gate with a no entrance sign upon it, and could see what appeared to be tractor wheel tracks, a little beyond this gate, it looked like a derelict/incomplete/abandoned project to build either a tiny cottage of a robust sheep pen, to the right there was a distinct sound of water leeeching from the mountain, also there was another gate, more tracks and then another gate behind a steep hair pin bend, of which again more tracks ascending to a wire fence towards the summit, behind that and a short decent from the route upwards was a ledge exposing the beautiful landscape and treacherous gorge should you over step the mark, across the gorge was most definitely Bwlch/Dynas, we wre upon Cad East, looking to our left was the silver reflections of Tal y Lyn lake, of which a pretty decent sized cloud blew up from there and consumed us in a wind whipped frenzied shower, soaking us to the bone, as a word of caution to any other amateur adventure toggers, make sure you understand the weather signs, and dress in good quality weather proofed clothing!
were we in the right place, or had we after only sighting the no entry sign on the gate after our decent, off the mark?
,
Could any of you who are better experienced point onto the map where we SHOULD of been? http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=LL40+2SG&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x4865637d55bf3535:0x1ce9de41e1710ac2,Dolgellau,+Gwynedd+LL40+2SG&gl=uk&ei=LVKcTqO2IIjTsgarq7yXBA&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CB4Q8gEwAA Thank you.
