Looking for some laptop recommendations?

Hi All

As the title says

This is not for (serious) photo editing but does need a sizeable, say >500GB HDD and perhaps 12GB RAM??? Not massive screen perhaps 15 inch max but a good wireless 'card' with a good typing keyboard.

Suggestion based on user experience of what make & models to look at would be very welcome................oh, budget wise ideally max £300 ?

Graphics card & screen wise ~ decent enough for photo viewing and good enough to use with iPlayer and other streaming videos.

To get something with a decent screen you'll need an IPS panel, which will be easily double that budget. Otherwise you'll be stuck with a food grade 1366X768, which is usable, but looks crunchy.

That caveat aside, look at Lenovos from either ebuyer or John Lewis, or Dells from the Dell outlet store.

Why 12gb ram? For that budget you may be looking at 4gb then add more yourself later.
500gb drive is ok but look for one that's 7200rpm, 5400 will really slow it.

Or later add a 500gb ssd. The quick crucial ones are now only £160-170.
