The lab local to me in north lancs has just gone bust, he was fantastic.Nothing was ever a problem.

Can anyone recommend a pro lab that will print up to 48" x 24". And one that you can ring up to talk to somebody if needed rather than just having to upload images and hope that they come back ok
:thankyou:

theprintspace are amazing, expensive compared to the usual suggestions of DSCL and the like, but the service is amazing. I haven't used anyone else for a while now because I can't fault them at all

and I can't fault DSCL:)

i use dscl and i cant fault them
i will order online the night before and am picking them up the day after
the quality is first class and uploading your pictures is simple
most of the members of our photographic club use them and they are more than happy

Just remember DSCL prints over 18x12 are inkjet .... I use One Vision for my large prints and have received great service

For the same reason I don't use DSCL for larger prints either, 18x12 and under are unbeatable for quality/price though...I've spoken to DSCL a couple of times regarding their larger prints and by their own admission they comment that they aren't quite as good as the smaller ones - I use Peak Imaging for large prints but this isn't much use to you as they are based in Sheffield:bang:

seems odd that they think their large format epson prints are not as good as their fuji frontier. They use epson ultrachrome ink and while they won't be as glossy as their fuji prints they should be sharper and have better longevity.

I find it amazing that DSCL get such a good rep. I went to go there and could not find anywhere to park as it is a High street shop like Snappy snaps.

They must work around the clock because it is a little shop. How do they do it?

I think they have a fully automated print process, as far as I'm aware the only time people are involved is when they package the prints

I order a lot of 20"x20" from DSCL and the quality is fantastic!

However, should anything go wrong then their customer service is a bit of a let down.

I've used DSCL for my last 3 sets of prints, and whilst I cannot fault the service and price, I find the prints to be a touch dark (I don't use the DSCL colour correction option and I've downloaded the lustre paper profile). My monitor's calibrated with a huey pro. Colorworld always produce spot on to my monitor. Any advice on how to get round the darkish prints? Am I missing something obvious as I only read good reports on their quality. Not too keen on relying on guesswork.

I use CS4 and in 'view', 'Proof setup', 'Custom' I select 'DS colour lab 2 DP lustre' and seems to work fine. I have seen it mentioned in another thread that some find them to print a little darker. Guess I've just been lucky!

I've read the procedures and watched the video on the DSCL site and I'm not sure I was doing it quite right. I assumed once I set the profile, it was done, but looking again, it appears you have to set the profile on each image as you do them. Is this right?

I may send another set off on tuesday and see if that makes a difference.

Try ProAm imaging in Bradford, always to quality at good prices..
