Hi,

I've got a 350d with a grip and am now getting to the point of wanting a 2nd body (got a wedding to shoot in the summer) and I've sort of set my heart on the 40d, keeping the 350d as a backup / spare

my question is .... reading some threads on here a lot of people seem to rate the 30d, whats peoples thoughts ?

Im also coveting the 70-200 F4 IS L and the 24-105 L, but they will have to wait a bit as the cash pot fills very slowly these days lol

Having recently updgraded to a 30D from an elderly 10D (that I have kept as a spare) I must admit to being very happy with it although it may be questionable exactly how much of a true technical upgrade from your 350 it is.

The things I like best compared to my 10D are the much better high ISO performance, instant on time, the write times to CF, much bigger LCD and native support for EFS lenses.

Possibly the biggest real improvement you'll see is in the general handling given the bigger body and the much better controls IMHO.

I think 30D's are possibly the best bargain on the secondhand market now, I paid about £320 with a canon grip in mint condition, all boxed etc.

Cheers

If you are shooting a wedding, no ifs or buts about it, you will need two bodies.

I recently upgraded from a 400D to a 30D, and it is a brilliant camera. Rodintee is right about the 30D prices, I got mine for £300 delivered

Thanks Russ and Betty

I have to admit the price of the 30d does seem very good :), is there much differnence in the image quality from the 400d to the 30d ? and is there anything from the 40d that you still covet ?

cheers
Phil
