looking for a car rig

I think that the Guys that make the 'MagicArm' make a car clamp kit!

I've got a mate, who gaffa taped his tripod with a 7d, and 10-20 siggy onto the top of his corsa.. :D

Hey,

I PM'd you but ill put it on here too:

I'm currently in a similar situation to you, and am putting together a car rig atm. I am having custom made carbon fibre poling to keep weight down and rigidity up. It looks like I'll be needing to buy a minimum of 20 so am gauging interest.

It looks like the entire setup is going to be around £500 (2x suckers, 5m telescopic carbon fibre pole, magic arm and all the clamps etc). To give you an idea, the cheapest CF pole i can find that meets this criteria is £490 just for the pole!

Let me know

Cheers

Tom.

all a rig is is a pole clamped to a couple if vacuum suction cups with a camera mount. TBH they are pretty much old hat now so spending that amount of money of something that take significant time to set up and post process afterwards for one shot is a bit silly.

have a look at bhague

What's the criteria for the carbon pole? Have you tried fishing pole sections - miles cheaper and massively strong?....

it's collapsable with screw lock (think gitzo mono/tripods), 5 section with a minimum OD of 20mm, so id imagine much bigger than any fishing pole I've seen. Also, remember the kit also consists of manfrotto suction cups, magic arm and 3 super clamps, you're looking at the best part of £300 just for that lot! Cheapest ready made "boom" that is 5x1m is £490 that i can find, so by having them made in bulk im saving £300

Ah, right. You'd et a decent carbon fishing pole (for the sections yuo'd need in terms of diameter) for probably £250 on the used market but it'd be take-apart and not telescopic so you'd not be able to drop down in small increments.
