Hello all, I'm new to this hobby, but am looking to buy a tripod for my Nikon D60. I have been using a small tripod my father bought for his Nikon F1 (I have just been given this camera with lots of lens) in Japan in the 70's, but think it is time for an upgrade.:help:

I have been looking at Manfrottos looking to spend around £90 and don't know which is better the MN190XB, the MN190x PROB or the MN055X, they are all the same price give or take a tenner? Are there any better tripod makes out there, I should be looking at?

I was also thinking of getting a Ball and socket Head is this the right choice?

I mainly use the 15~200mm as my stock lens and have just bought a 60mm macro for my other hobby watch photography, so will not be using any super heavy lens. Thought I should add that I'm 6' 4" tall as well. Sorry for all the questions....

Cheers

Neal

Hi there,
Do a search for "Redsnapper" on here and it seems well recommended. I've just got one and will add my recommendation, the quality is far and away better than anything I'd seen at comparable prices.:clap:

I think we should have a sticky: If you want a tripod don't start a new thread, just buy a Redsnapper!!!
