I have a Sekonic 308s................... I am looking at the L-758DR and the L478DR. From what I can see the L478DR has everything I need, it gives flash percentages and EV's . Why should one get this over the top of the range L-758DR
I don't want to buy twice and then again I don't want to buy the top of the range if I am never going to use its functions (For example any of these meters wont test fire my Profoto B1 Heads)

The 758 does reflective spot metering too with a 1 degree spot. That's a very useful thing to have available. You can get a 5 degree spot attachment for the 478 but that's a bit wide.

I'd avoid the touch screen of the 478, too, but that's personal preference.

The 558 does pretty much everything the 758 does if you can find one second hand.

I just watched a youtube on the 758 and yes that feature would be good.....thanks for the feedback

I Have the 758DR, which I bought when i was doing some large Format landscapes and having the spot function was really useful. However now I just use it as a flash meter.

If you get a chance to have a play on one of the new colour screen ones before purchasing, I would. I had a play with one at a show and was surprised how it looked, almost pixelated, like it needed a higher res screen.
