Hi Guys,

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum - I thought it sounded best.

I'm looking at buying a camera that's capable of recording decent quality videos. Most videos will be on a tripod (which I'll need to buy) and have the options of having a tie-mic (which i'll also need to buy).

I'm on as tight a budget as you can think. I've got little idea where to start.

Any help would be incredible.

OK Thanks. My budget is probably about £300/400.

I'm not looking at anything complicated. Almost all the filming will be done on a tripod and will be a person talking directly at the camera.

With the budget you have some choice. Look at the Canon HF R56, or there are several Sony cameras in your price bracket. These are all HD video cameras, which if it is only for video work I can't see the point of getting a DSLR

the video on the lumix CSC cameras isn't bad but they omitted the option of a microphone jack!
bah!

I would look at, interchangable lenses, DSLR, CSC, etc.
touch screen focus on the back is handy
face tracking and on the fly focusing which is fairly new to DSLRs, (70D, 7Dmkii)
mic in line if required, unless you're recording audio on a separate unit

the reason I quite like interchangeable lenses is so you can strap on a nice f/1.7 prime or something similar when you want to, but dedicated film camera is a good option
