I spent a few hours today peicing together the bits I bought (as well as a very old flash) and came up with this....
(twin flash btw)

No TTL, but can give ok lighting when used manualy or as fill. Not bad for £10 worth of materials! (and some patients when soldering)

Not sure what category this falls under so move if needed.

(do not try this at home unless you know what you're doing. I take no responsibility if you do try this!)

Which hospital did you nick the patients from?

i was expecting tracy island!!!!

dont look half bad that! got an example photo's yet?

Jolly good, but what's it do?
No good showing us a contraption unless it works

Only a couple of photos so far, finished it this evening so not much to photograph. These werre all trials so don't poo poo them too much.

Well it works - nowt wrong with those shots.

:agree: practice time

so how did you make it,

take it apart and rebuild it doing a step by step guide

it looks like some mad water cooling thing for the lens  good effort

Very enterprising way to spend a rainy day ... ;) ... and quite impressive practice results too especially the coil ...

:p

Cheers. All parts (except the flash unit that’s possibly older than I am, and the the screw in lens hood) I bought from Maplins for about £10, including the xenon flash tubes!

I am impressed. Well done, and those test shot don't look shabby at all!

The test shots are really impressive - not sure its a set up you want to be seen in public with but nothing wrong with the results !
