I've a 13 hour flight on Friday and a choice of seats, either an extra legroom seat for £50 3 inches more legroom than normal but it's in the middle of a set of 3, or an exit seat for free which gives you all the legroom you want with plenty of room for neighbours to get round you, but it's next to 2 loos and a baby change row..

This is a virgin Atlantic flight which I've never used before so not sure what the seating is like.

I always think it depends at least to some extent on how tall you are, but that detail is not available in your forum profile.

Search your flight here and get all the info:

I second above: Exit row if possible every time.

Paying extra just for legroom is quite stupid IMO. I'd go £150 extra for premium economy if I wanted that extra luxury, you get bigger seat and much nicer meal with real knife/fork.

Paid extra on first flight with them (£30) and it was worth it but IMO the exit seat would be better. If you can Premium Economy is worth the extra

Just booked the exit seat instead and that wasn't free after all, but hopefully worth it. I've ordered an eye mask and have my noise cancelling headphones so fingers crossed

For me on long haul flights: aisle seat over the wing. Aisle seat means I have room to the side to move, and I don't have to worry about disturbing anyone. I can also get up and stretch my legs when I want.

I would never go near toilets and changing space on a flight because of the noise and disruptions.

I fly virgin to Florida for years. There seats are fine I am 6-2 and well built. I have no probs with economy seats. I do know that if you want to sit together then pay up front

Yeah I had to pay £30 a seat for three of us on the way back to ensure we sit together. Which is a little grasping of them.
