Hi guys,

How do you stop a long exposure being too bright? I have set the camera to ISO100, a small aperture and knocked down the exposure compensation to make the pic as dark as poss but they can still come out too bright sometimes especially in sunny conditions. Is this something you have to adjust afterwards in PP?

Thanks

Try using a neutral density filter. It should reduce your exposures by a couple of stops.

The longer the exposure, the more light you are letting into the camera.
If your F number is as high as it will go then you will need to slow the shutter speed down.

:agree: with smithphoto, CP filter can sometimes do the trick

you can even go as far as a 10 stop ND filter. Just depends on the effect you want and how long you need the shutter open to achieve it!

How long an exposure are you after ?

What are you shooting ?

Whats the effect your after ?
