Hi all.

I need a little bit of guidance. A good friend of mine is a music producer and has asked me to complete a photo shoot for his latest record sleeve.

He is a house music producer and has requested that the feel is funky and underground (not literally "the tube"). He wants the images to be taken at night again as the this is the feel of the record.

I have a few ideas in my head that i want to acheive but looking for some more inspiration. I have not yet written any thoughts down as he only contacted me this afternoon.

Can anyone advise of some photographic gems of London that have not been snapped to death and will comply with the theme??

Difficult to know what to suggest without knowing a bit more about your friend. Is this track one-off? A brand new artist on a brand new label? Or is it part of a series of releases by an artist and/or label?

What are they hoping to achieve by having your photo on there? Is it supposed to be the major factor in grabbing peoples attention? Or is it more to fit in with the overall theme and look good at the same time?

I'm I'm browsing for vinyl I'll either look for the output of artists, producers or labels that I'm already familiar and comfortable with. Then I might pick up a few sleeves that catch my eye, either from the photography (if present) or the graphic design. When it comes to photography it's usually something completely bizarre and not always in-keeping with the record that attracts my attention.

In fact some of my favourite records have sleeves featuring photography that has absolutely nothing to do with the record in any way (at least to my eyes) but that looks damn cool on the shelves.

Had any more thoughts on the matter? I spent some time in my local-ish record emporium earlier today and might have one or two ideas for you.
