Thought I might as well make an 'official' meet thread ;)

Stick your name down here if you want to come along for a meet in London on Saturday 21st October. The South Bank appears to be the place decided upon (my knowledge of London is pants, but I'm guessing this is around Waterloo??). As many of us will be arriving by train, maybe Waterloo station is a good meeting place, but as always, open to suggestions :)

An ideal opportunity to meet your fellow TPF chums  and put names to faces, regardless of what type of photography you like as London offers something for everyone.

I think your right with picking Waterloo station Cheryl. I believe theirs a clock tower in the middle of the main hall....possibly the smaller of the main halls.

...could someone confirm its existence please..??

Either that or we ask every one to wander up to the Millennium Wheel, it'll be sign posted plenty from Waterloo and its not far to wander.

Is 10am a good time for all?

You won't need a signpost for the wheel....!!!!

I'm definitely interested if I can get a day pass off the Mrs (its her birthday weekend so it'll be tricky!) - a mile or so east of the wheel, between Blackfriars Bridge and Southwark Bridge, you can find St Pauls, the Millennium Bridge, The Globe, the Golden Hind, Borough Market and generally some interesting architecture in the City area - plus hordes of tourists!!!

Theres plenty of interestig stuff down by the river.

It'd cost £156 return if me and sue caught the train down from York.

Hmmm

blimey you can hire a car for less!

i will have to look at this, if the wife isnt working i may come along, i dont live far from london, only 30 mins on the train, but if i got the kids i dont want to drag them along:)

Matt, have a look on GNER website - they had some special offers on there not too long ago where they were doing York/Leeds - London for £19 return! Linky

Or £50 for 2 on National Express if you can bear the 4+ hour journey.

Ray

would rather drive down than get on a national express again, looking at that link now. Would love to visit london though, I've never been*

This was dispelled a few years ago when I found out my mum and my grandparents took me down to the ideal homes show - but I can't remember it so I don't think I've been :p

nah cheapest it gets is £144

Its the return journey thats killing it I think, can get down there for about £20 each. If we booked into a travellodge and went back the next morning I think it'd end up costing the same :/

Can do it for £26 on national express from bradford, thats cheaper than petrol that is.

Still 4 hour coach journeys :/

£98 return from York on the train through the GNER site, I might do that. will ask Sue when I get home.

We could drive to her mum and dads friday night, come down on the saturday morning and be back in york for 8pm, sounds like a plan to me.

Would love to go back to London for a few snaps but I'll be in Manchester that weekend watching the glorious Liverpool beat Utd in their own back yard :) See who I've upset now :)

The South Bank is an excellent place to snap, London Aquarium, Eye, Dali exhibition. Get onto one of the bridges (think it's Waterloo) for a cracking view down the Thames towards HoP.

:'(
So sorry not to be able to join in the fun........I love that part of London and would like to meet you all.......but my son's band are playing Rock City in Nottingham, and I have promised to take a load of his friends with see them play. I wouldn't be able to stay awake for the late night drive home if I tried to do both !!

Have fun!

I will actually be in London that day doing a shoot. I'll see if I can swing it, timing might be off. I will check back to get the finalized time and meeting place.

Wasted journey mate, you're going to get a stuffing :p

wish i was going to watch liverpool beat utd.

London sucks, so I'll be at the next one that isn't in London.

ME! I'm up for it for sure.....can it be meet at 11am though?! Having been woken up by problems with one of the vehicles at work this morning at 6am, my head's spinning at the idea of another early start! :p

Do we have definites yet other than myself and Arkady? (Witch and FB - are you definitely coming along?) Stick your name down if you can definitely make it - we need to start arranging times/places/phone numbers etc...

I certainly am - I'm looking forward to it! :D

Not if you have a small lightweight Velbon Ultralux, with its own carry bag. :D

I'll defiantly be staying late too Joe....Great lighting everywhere....the wheel keeps turning till eight.

I can bring two extra basic tripods, one has a carry bag. I'll only bring them if 'whoever' carries them around all day....so please let me know if I should bring them?

My Mobi is; 07958 484215. I can be their to meet everyone, if no one else is nearer...or volunteers.

Did we settle on where we are meeting yet?

The area around the wheel often has guys doing street theatre as well btw - I think some have moved over from Covent Garden as the takings are good with the crowds going to the wheel.

Do we have a "plan B" in case of dodgy weather?

11am sounds good. As most of us will be coming by train, Waterloo station is a good meeting point. Don't know about the big clock tower thing mentioned earlier in the thread (whether it is there or not ) How about by the escalators at the entrance/exit to the south bank (near the Body Shop & Boots)?

And me.

neonppollen and myself and also looking to come up too. Is there any sort of plan or organisation side to this or is it a meet up an dfree for all?????

I've actually scheduled 3 sessions that day now in London, so I don't think I will be able to time a meet up also. Have fun!

Me and sue are a no for this - money is tight at the moment and we just can't afford to come down there for the day :/

Oh well maybe next time, have fun guys.

meet up and free for all basically! I think we'll probably schedule something once we get there, but you're not committed to anything, so if you want to wander off and do your own thing once you've had enough of everyone, that's fine ;) The plan as far as I can see is people photography and other interesting stuff, then low light stuff as it gets dark

Low Light stuff eh? I can see this is where I'm really going to get the hump with my cheapy tripod!! :'( Oh well, at least it will give me that chance to see what works well for others. ;)
