Hi all

Going to be visiting the islands next May and wanted to ask if anyone here has been and if so where are some good spots for photography? We won't be doing serious hiking or climbing, more of a road trip, but as we only have 3 days i would be keen to hear of any particular areas that get a thumbs up!

Thanks

Cody Duncan has all the answers for you. His guide(s) are well worth paying a bit of cash to download - excellent. Load of very good free info on his site too. Very jealous that you are going.

Definitely somewhere I would like to visit one day too,,, thank you for the link Andy.

I've spent quite a bit of time on Lofoten on several occasions. One one occasion the ruddy hotel in Svolvaer burnt down and we had to be evacuated at some ungodly hour of the night and rehoused elsewhere! TBH, if you're going to have a car on there just tour round. It's not a massive place. Loads of fantastic shooting locations, though, as in most places in Norway.

Of course, because of Cody the place will be full of photographers :-)

I couldn't find any at all. Not even to Sweden

Seems to be I am not the only one wanting a UK to Norway crossing.

Can't remember which line it was now but I've taken them several times, both to Oslo and Stockholm. They definitely run. There's also one to Denmark, after which you can just head over the bridge into Sweden and over to Norway. I used to live in Sweden and Norway so I took them quite regularly. Was about a 21 hour sailing time as I recall.

Steve this isn't quite what your looking for but this company runs a scheduled runs up and down the Norwegian coast to deliver supplies etc as well as that they are now doing sort of cruises. A friend of mine went to Lofoten with them. Their ships are continually running up and down the coast from the far north to Oslo (I think) so it is essentially a hop on hop off service he caught a ship up spent a week there and caught another ship back.... Just an Idea

Thanks, If I could get a car on that would be fine. I hate flying and baggage limits. The idea of being able to Ferry to Oslo then Ferry to Reine and just take my car really appeals.

The option is to drive up via Holland, Denmark and Sweden but it will take 5 days although there is good stuff on the way.

You can get a car on but you need to contact them to make that arrangement. I did it a few years back. I expected to drive my then Jag onto the ferry but they took the keys off me and lifted the car onto the deck at the front, carefully positioning it between some bollards. I almost died watching my baby dangling around 20 feet above the ferry but they got it on and off without so much as a scratch. :)
