I'm trying to find a suitable location to take some pictures of a friend and his lovely partner as they have become close enough to consider themselves properly in a relationship.

I've seen some of the excellent work on here showing engagement portraiture work in natural locations such as parks and what not and am currently walking and driving round my local area trying to find a places that are suitable. One thing that is striking me is trying to get the balance between natural beauty, access, and to have a little privacy away from main roads and major landmarks. I think I'm getting there with it but was wondering if anyone else local has any hidden gems they might share?

I am based in Aylesbury Bucks and have lived round here so long I keep thinking I'm missing the obvious......

So far..

  • Stoke Mandeville Church Yard (but I am in the process of receiving written permission form the Church Wardens, as they seem to think it odd I want to use the chruch yard as a setting?)
  • Waddesdon Manor (trying to obtain written permission from the NT)
  • Wendover Hills
  • Halton Woods

Any help appreciated.

How about Hartwell House? It is a beautiful 17th century stately home not far from you that is run as a restaurant / hotel. You could probably arrange something in their grounds - or even some interiors.

If you want to come a bit further east then you could try Woburn Abbey

Wingrave, beautiful village & you'll love the backdrop scenery, typical local fox hunt type village with big old houses spread out

This might be a bit dated now, but just in case!
How about Watermead Lake? Coombe Hill?

Wendover would be nice....there are so many gorgeous spots up there!

Blimey didnt realise someone was gonna post so late in the day but thanks a lot for taking the time to do so.

I did the shoot in Stoke Mandeville St Mary's Church and although a small location offered enough variation for some basic but good shots.

I have plans and permission to take shots of an engagement couple in Waddesdon Manor Grounds and plan to take another couple to Watermead lake area.

Got some other ideas and will explore them as and when I need to. It's amazing the areas around when you start really thinking about it all.

Sorry, I bumped it...i was looking thru posts, and noticed you were in aylesbury!

St Mary's is lovely :)

I took some shots at Waddesdon Manor last year, with a compact, now i have my new camera, I am going up there again in March.

Might head up to wendover woods this week, and have a play about!!
