Hi all.

I mentioned in the beginners forum recently about my laptop being slow and that I avoid using it because of this.

I've been looking at it this evening and discovered local disk c has 1.99gb free of 110gb space. Looking through google and YouTube I have found videos explaining how to clear it out. So far that includes-

-Deleting Temp files
-Making sure no photos etc were stored on there
-Removing old restore points
-Microsoft disk cleaner

It's made no difference at all. I hardly even have any programmes on the laptop. It's about 5 years old and pretty basic i3 but I have no idea what to do. Help would be appreciated please.

Cheers

I had used CC cleaner with no luck but downloaded TeeSize like it said and noticed it was Apple using my space. Think it might be a back up from my phone! Not sure if I should delete those files but went ahead and did it.

Thanks for that. It has helped greatly!

Have you looked at the system resources and whether you've got any resource hogs?

Nawty.

Thanks for the reply but sorted.

Don't forget you can also backup to I Cloud if you want to maintain backups. I would do that before deleting local backups.

looks like you have 22gb of iPhone/iPad backups on your machine.

do you have that option selected in iTunes?

I had more than that. I had deleted the latest back up which was about 40gb. No I just back my phone up and it automatically backs up to that file. No idea how to change it.

Doesn't that only store 5gb of data?
Yes for the free option, you can pay extra to have more. You do not pay to backup applications. So it depends on how that phone is so filled up; if it is a lot of videos and photos then yes you'll require extra storage, if it is a lot of games then you'll be in luck :) Impossible for me or anyone else to say really.

Thanks. It's mainly full of photos and videos. I think about 20gb worth:D

So you really need then all? A cull may be I order. Also, ssd are cheap enough these days, it may be worthwhile replacing the hard drive. Or even look at getting some external storage.

500gb to 1tb is the norm for most laptops now. And even that can get filled up rapidly with ever increasing raw files! Online backup is smart, but does rely on a healthy Internet connection....
