Quite creative, I think the shallow depth of field works well to mask what the actual background is.

The last pic you posted is pretty good when you see what the background was like - half a dozen 3 foot trees at the end of an aisle in a hardware shop.

Funny. I landed on this video the other day. Does make you think about the places you just walk by everyday and dismiss.
