The local village produces a calendar each year and the couple that run it (grandfather of one of my sons schoolfriends) asked my wife if i'd enter some pics as he see's me most nights taking the dog for a walk camera in hand!
So, i searched my files as the pics had to be either of the village, or taken from the village.
Chose about 8 and emailed them .
My wife also takes lots of pics with her phone so she entered a couple along with some by our 9 yr old daughter.
They narrow all the entries down to 4 for each month, and then display them on a stall at the school summer fete and people can vote for their favourites.
I had 3 shortlisted, the wife 2, and our daughter 1.
Well...you can guess what happened!!
None of mine were chosen, one of the wifes was, but so was my daughters, AND she won best overall photo and with it £50 too!!!

Also, the guy that runs the comp, who is a very good photographer got one shortlisted, but his only got 1 vote!! you gotta laugh!
