Loading plugins

I have a number of plugins and I wish to load them into CS5. Now some have worked, usually the auto loader versions.

Ive tried a few different methods ie new folder and pointing PS to that folder but they dont seem to load. I am wondering what I am doing wrong?

It depends on the plug-in, some can be just put in the plug-ins folder (my computer/.programs/adobe/adobe photoshop cs5/plug-ins) others will need to be linked to the registry so can't easily be manually installed. Are you sure they are not installed, some so called plug-ins are actually scripts or other types and don't always show up in the filter nenu.
Another thing to watch out for is if you have more than one version of photoshop on your computer, check to see which it's installed in, some seem to default to earlier versions, and some of course my not be compatable with CS5.
