Hi all

I have a canon 450D and was wanting to confirm that using a non canon flash will disable the liveview feature - is this correct? Or do canon mean that a flash not designed for a canon wont work?:thinking: confused

regards

live view will simulate the ambient exposure not thhe flash exposure - I only ever use it for focusing and that rarely

hi

thanks for that, i need to have the live view just to make sure that everything is in focus just prior to exposure, the camera will be hooked up via usb to my computer, so will be checking liveview on the screen.

Can anyone confirm whether liveview works with non canon flashes such as the Sigma EM 140 DG Macro Flash on a 450D?

regards

yes it will
i have that combination.
just a little tip, the flash exposes a little over when you take the shot in live view. i take mine down 1 1/3 on the camera menu.

ok thats good to hear! i was concerned about this entry in the 450D manual:

Hmm interesting,

have some Proline studio lights and they using the PC connector the shutter won't trigger the lights in liveview.

yep I have the same problem, I can't trigger from the hotshoe or the pc port (40D feature) if I'm in Live-View.
