Hi,

Anyone here able to give me some ideas on how i can get my Linux laptop (asus eee-pc) to see my 400d so i can copy the pictures onto my external HDD?

I have run lspci and it does not display anything canon related..

If all else fails i can get an external card reader but i am going away for 3 weeks and want to limit the baggage!

Cheers

I always use a card reader.

I just tried plugging my 40D into my Ubuntu machine (for the first time!) and an "Import Photos" dialog popped up straight away.

As for lspci, it won't display anything as it's a usb device - try lsusb
I see: Bus 001 Device 059: ID 04a9:3113 Canon, Inc.

lspci! sorry thats the hangover doing that!

I have just installed digikam photo manager which lets me grab the pictures off my camera.. (sudo apt-get install digikam)

I will try my 400d on my ubuntu box and see what happens, its just too much hassle to install ubuntu on the eee pc as its missing some drivers etc.

Cheers
Euge
