I've just received my ticket for this special event:

and I'm really looking forward to it.

I have some ideas of what I want to photograph but I would be open to any advice on kit to take and angles to look for from anyone with any experience?

Go onto somewhere like Flikr, and search for warbirds. You'll get a fair bit of rubbish, but in amongst that, there's plenty to give you ideas.

Also have a look at Hazza's pictures, they are some of the best warbird photos I've seen.

As for kit? A wide angle, a short zoom probably the best things. A flash gun might be an idea too.

You flatter me!

I decided not to go to this, but I imagine it will be a good event. You will obv need a tripod.

When they run the planes up at night you will want a low ISO and just set a nice, 10 sec ish exposure. It will be over fairly shortly so make the most of it - don't stay glued to one spot, even if it means waiting for others to move. Better to finish up with 2 different shots than 15 identical ones, plus it allows others in the event to move to your old spot.

Maybe think about doing some close ups, they often work well picking out details. Mustangs are nice planes to shoot :) Maybe these will give you some ideas:

DON'T, I repeat DO NOT use a flash gun when they are running - you will freeze the props for everyone!

If you want any more advice feel free to ping me :)
